Did you ever play Killzone 1? Have you even heard of it? A lot of people haven’t, and there is a reason for that. Back in 2004, Killzone 1 was a highly anticipated game from Guerrilla Games and SCEA but it falled short of a great game. Well, Guerrilla Games came back, and with a mission to make one of the best games of all time.

The first trailer was shown at E3 2005, a trailer which sparked many debates between Xbox fanboys and Playstation fanboys. Was it CGI, or was it not? That was the biggest argument of them all.

Well, Guerrilla Games came back with a vegeance. After the failure of the first Killzone, people had their doubts about this game, saying it would not be good. Guerrilla Games were determined to prove the doubters, wrong. Did the highly anticipated Killzone 2 fall short? Or will it go down as one of the best ever?

Play Killzone 2 – Win prizes!

10 02 2009

Finding the “intel” in Killzone 2 won’t be for just trophies. Turns out you can win stuff for finding them! Not that great of stuff, but still. I wonder if they’ll send you a working Sta-14 if you beat the game in one day?! I doubt it….I can wish though, right?

Here is from the playstation blog:

Hi everyone!

It’s Victor Zuylen from Killzone.com here. With Killzone 2 receiving lots of positive attention from the press, I figured now would be a good time to give you a taste of the bonus content which can be unlocked on Killzone.com through the game.

After you’ve uncovered a piece of Helghast intel in Killzone 2’s single player campaign, you can connect to Killzone.com to claim a special reward. These unlockable rewards come in various shapes and sizes – some are simply printable versions of the propaganda posters you see in-game, others contain details on the wildlife of the Maelstra Barrens or pages from a Helghast soldier’s secret journal.

(Please note: you will need Adobe Reader to view these documents.)

If you’re good enough, you can even unlock and download physical objects from the Killzone universe. “That’s impossible,” I hear you cry at your monitor, “You can’t to download physical objects through the Internet – let alone objects from a fictional universe.” Ah, but then you’ve obviously never witnessed the venerable art of papercraft:

You want a hoverdeck made out of paper for yourself? Find those pieces of intel!

Killzone 2 Demo Impressions

Did you ever play Killzone 1? Have you even heard of it? A lot of people haven’t, and there is a reason for that. Back in 2004, Killzone 1 was a highly anticipated game from Guerrilla Games and SCEA but it falled short of a great game. Well, Guerrilla Games came back, and with a mission to make one of the best games of all time.

The first trailer was shown at E3 2005, a trailer which sparked many debates between Xbox fanboys and Playstation fanboys. Was it CGI, or was it not? That was the biggest argument of them all.

Well, today the demo for one of the most highly anticipated games of all time (killzone 2) came out for those who pre-ordered it (from GameStop), or are in the UK. The demo is a little bit over a gig, and it will take a long time to download, especially with everyone downloading it at the same time. As soon as you start the game, there is a warning saying if you have any past history with seizures or anything of that sort, and there is a reason why. As soon as the menu pops up you will see why, it made my eyes twitch at first until I got use to it. Other people were saying it made their eyes twitch at first, so be note that your eyes will freak out at first.

After your eye twitching fun, you are greeted with soothing, beautiful graphics. When the level loads, you watch a short cut scene of a plane/hovercraft crashing, body flying towards you, your comrades saying a few curse words for the hell of it, and then it is go time! That is all I’m going to say about what you actually do in the demo for those who are going to play the demo in the future.

Let me just say that I was super excited for this game BEFORE the demo came out, and my excitement went up a few more notches. I’m not quite sure how I will be able to wait until the 27th of this month for the game to come out. The graphics, the sounds, the feeling that you are in an actual huge war, is just amazing. If you are a fan of the first Killzone, or a fan of shooters in general, and you own a PS3, I highly recommend you download the demo some how. (either pre-order it @ Gamestop, create a UK account and get it off the store, or wait until the 26th (the day before it comes out) to download it) But you have to try this demo out, it will only get you more excited for the game.

Look for my review of Killzone 2 on March 5th.
